International Human’s Day!

Origin68-Human-Being-T-Shirt1

Well before we go any further we are living in an age where everyone gets offended by everything…for the love of humanity grow set of brass balls and get on with life.  Be warned I’m not politically correct nor do I ever want to be!

I’ve been giving some serious thought to something.  Today I log into Facebook and it informs that it is “International Women’s Day.”  It got the old Muse working…so first let’s see what this day is about… “International Women’s Day, originally called International Working Women’s Day, is celebrated on March 8 every year. In different regions the focus of the celebrations ranges from general celebration of respect, appreciation, and love towards women for women’s economic, political, and social achievements. Started as a Socialist political event, the holiday blended the culture of many countries, primarily in Europe, especially those in the Soviet Bloc. In some regions, the day lost its political flavor, and became simply an occasion for people to express their love for women in a way somewhat similar to a mixture of Mother’s Day and Valentine’s Day. In other regions, however, the political and human rights theme designated by the United Nations runs strong, and political and social awareness of the struggles of women worldwide are brought out and examined in a hopeful manner. Some people celebrate the day by wearing purple ribbons.”Wikipedia

We need to stop these bloody days that just single out certain individuals for the sake of political correctness, appeasement or grandstanding!  Everyday should be just plain human’s day. Continue reading International Human’s Day!

Warning!

Conservative

I know I try not to write much on politics but when I do it is from a well thought out and heavily weighed point of view. I’m neither a democrat nor a Republican but an AMERICAN CONSERVATIVE not welcome in any of the parties.

This was once a great and mighty Republic; the world at large shook when we spoke, and now I feel that we are the laughing stock of the world. It is time to stop playing politics and get back to the true business of the people which to quote Edward Rutledge (from the Movie 1776): “United for our mutual protection, but…separate for our individual pursuits.” We are the governed because we grant permission to be governed. Speak up America Speak Up!

History Lesson

“I’m sorry but I’m about to preach and teach!! If you want to fight a cause, understand what you are fighting. First and foremost the Confederate Flag was never a national flag representing the South, it was a battle flag flown by several armies in Virginia. Even if it had been a national flag for the South, understand that the Civil War wasn’t just over slavery, while it was the reason slavery ended, it was merely an excuse for the war. The North fought the war over money (the same reason we fight half the wars these days and excuse it by saying we’re fighting for another cause. Plain and simple. When the South started Secession, Lincoln was asked, “Why not let the South go in peace?” To which he replied, “I can’t let them go. Who would pay for the government?” Sensing total financial ruin for the North, Lincoln waged war on the South. The South fought the War to repel Northern aggression and invasion, because, and yes this is a true stereotype, us southerners don’t like to be told what to do! Lol. The Confederate Battle Flag today finds itself in the center of much controversy. The cry to take this flag down is unjustified. It is very important to keep in mind that the Confederate Battle Flag was simply just that. A battle flag. It was never even a National flag, so how could it have flown over a slave nation or represented slavery or racism? This myth is continued by lack of education and ignorance.”

With the horrible shooting in the South Carolina Church (I pray for all those that lost loved ones and I do hope that they receive justice) people  are up in arms about a flag they know very little about.  So let me give ya’ll a little history lesson as a public service announcement from JustUsOwls.

First of all this flag is not the flag of the Confederate States of America (CSA) rather it is the battle flag of the 1st Virginia Infantry (as well as Army of Tennessee)!

Battle Flag of the 1st Virginia Infantry
Battle Flag of the 1st Virginia Infantry & The Army of Tennessee

The CSA had a total of three flags during their time as a country.

This first flag caused to much confusion as to who was CSA and who was USA. It is referred to as: “The Stars and Bars!”

March 4, 1861 to November 28, 1861 Flag of the Confederate States of America
March 4, 1861 to November 28, 1861 Flag of the Confederate States of America

This flag is nicked named: “The Stainless Banner.”

May 1, 1863 - March 1865 Flag of the Confederate States of America
May 1, 1863 – March 1865
Flag of the Confederate States of America

The final flag adopted: “The Blood Stained Banner”

March 4, 1865 until dissolved by the Union. The flag of the Confederate States of America.
March 4, 1865 until dissolved by the Union.
The flag of the Confederate States of America.

Please get your historical facts correct when you are going to go on a rant.  While there are countless opinions as to why the Civil War was fought please remember we are one country now and should know the entire history of our country no matter how dark it is.

IMDB Top 250 Movies

Inspired by my friend Alex – Project Lady please check her out!

Here is the list of IMDB top 250 and my status of watching, how many times I watched them and how I score them in my view.

To some movies, I get addicted and watch them over and over again rather than a new movie, so I wrote how many times I watched the movie too.

Of course IMDB is not the only authority in selecting which movie to watch but public opinion is a good guide if the number of voters are global and many. So for me, IMDB ranks is a better source than “artistically selective” film critiques.

My scores can be interpreted as follows:
1= so awful that I forced myself to finish it
2 or 3=Yes it was “a movie”. That’s all.
4 or 5= tolerable for once
6=watchable
7=good
8=real good, fun
9=learned from the movie, loved it
10=Adore it! Learned so much from it!

My Thoughts on Ferguson

image

When will people realize that there is only one race and that is the Human Race?  Grant it the actions of some cannot be classified as human!

The Grand Jury made a difficult decision with pressure from social media and various other biases. There is no excuse for the behavior being displayed after this verdict across the nation!

Now let the healing begin and stop the violence and destruction as it only begets more violence and destruction! Pray for our nation! To know peace is to live peacefully and know God!

Apple Day 2014

This past Saturday (25 October), Laura and I went to the MOFGA Fairgrounds in Unity Maine, for the annual Apple Day Celebration.  We did not go alone we brought our food loving basset hound, Babe with us!

image
Babe & Ed

Babe had fun meeting all the different people there. Especially a 20 year old Siberian Husky.  Babe had many people to rub her tummy!

There were many different activities going on.  The children were allowed to be cranky for the day…they assisted in making the apple cider via turning the crank on the apple press! 😉  Laura was going to try her hand at being cranky but to many wee ones where ahead of her. America

Dont_Tread_On_Me-wallpaper-9148456

I just happened to come across Mr. Ray Steven’s latest video.  Now I don’t normally blog politics on the President…but this particular song hits the nail on its head!  Ray’s analogy fits perfect as to what is happening in this country.  We need to put aside all “political” agendas and do what is right for this country.  We need to be united again and not a fractured and burning land where we are allowing the likes of Isil/Isis to beat at the very foundation of our Republic.  Watch the video with an open mind and see all the correlations.  We need the America of WWI and WWII back, people then would not have tolerated this for a millisecond!
